My journey...
What can I say, I am a typical woman! Like most teenager I gave up sport because I felt self-conscious of my body and from an early age I have spent way too long not liking (even hating bits of my body - thighs, boobs, hair I could go on). I have tried every diet going, joined numerous gyms, and even bought the odd celebrity fitness DVD. I've made those health related New Year's Resolutions and then broken them all by the 2nd January. However my attitude to fitness changed again when I joined the Armed Forces. I enjoyed the physical challenges and being active. I became more confident and took part in lots of exciting adventurous training expeditions around the world and loved them. Lunchtime was spent either at circuit training classes or out running around the Suffolk countryside with my colleagues so I was fairly fit. However until recently I have always hovered around the size 14 mark.

In 2014 I decided to try and challenge myself when it came to running. I have always been a bit of a shuffler when it came to running. I wasn't fast and tended to keep the same even pace. This all changed 2 years ago when after a jaunt around the Harrogate Stray I thought perhaps I could perhaps push a bit harder. I had signed up for the Great North Run and knew it wasn't going to be easy so I decided to try some run coaching. I made changes to my diet (rather unfortunately this meant omitting wine and crisps for a while but, rest assured they do have a place in my life now. Where would the fun be if not!) and with each run and PT session I gradually fell more and more in love with fitness and felt the best I ever have.

As a result of the progression in my own fitness and training routine my interest and knowledge grew. The next logical step seemed to be to put this experience, knowledge and passion to use to help other people to achieve goals they never thought possible. In 2015 I qualified first as a Fitness Instructor (Gym) and then a Personal Trainer. In starting Maven Personal Training I believe I have finally found my calling in life!
It is fantastic sharing the aspirations and goals of my clients and being part of their journey to achieving them. I like to think: "Your Goals - Are my Goals".
