'First Mile' Groups
Want to take your first steps towards becoming a runner?
Although I run Couch to 5k programmes throughout the year, I understand that for some this distance can feel too daunting. Perhaps you can't remember when you last ran a single step? Or you may be filled with doubts about whether running is for you and if you can keep up with the group? If that's the case - then this is the group for you!
One mile is a distance everyone can get their head around and anyone – including you – can achieve, no matter how unfit you may feel right now.
The First Mile programme will ease you into regular activity, gradually increasing in time and intensity over four weeks.
There are 2 sessions per week (approximately 30 minutes) on Monday at 7.15pm and Saturday's at 10.00am
Your journey to your first mile starts with a single step...
The groups will be held on the following dates:
Monday 5 June to Saturday 1 July 2017
Monday 3 July to Saturday 29 July 2017
Monday 31 July to Saturday 26 August 2017
Monday 9 October to 4 November 2017
Monday 13 November to 9 December 2017

If you have always wanted to run but found it hard to either start or keep at it then this is the group for you!
I hold an England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness (LiRF) qualification so will guide you safely on your run journey.
I call it my 'Reluctant Runners' Group. It is a 12 week 'Couch to 5K' programme which alternates between period of walking and running gradually building in running time each week with the aim of running non-stop for 30 minutes or
5K (3 miles) by the end of the 12 weeks.
There are three sessions per week: 2 run sessions and 1 indoor strength & conditioning class. This will help to develop the comprehensive strength you need to get faster and run without injury - read about my 'Run Fit' circuits below.
The run sessions will be approximately 30 minutes and the circuits class around 45minutes.
The groups will be held on the following dates:
Tuesday 17 January to Saturday 8 April 2017
Tuesday 25 April to Saturday 15 July 2017
Tuesday 3 October to Saturday 16 December 2017 (11 week course - £165)
Tuesday 16 January to 7 April 2018
The Cost: £180 for the 12 weeks

Fun and challenging strength training workouts to stimulate & develop muscle strength to meet the demands running places on your body.
'This is a class designed to help you get a better runner’s body'
Improved performance for all abilities: Faster running - Fewer injuries
What we will be doing:
A circuit based workout consisting of short, repeated bursts of activity that target one or more specific muscles and are separated by rest periods (or a shift to a different exercise working a different muscle group)
Why we do it:
Runners like to run. I get that. It’s simple, there are no rules, little equipment is needed and there are literally miles and miles to discover. However, if you are doing nothing but running, you are missing a trick.
Strength training is key to better running and injury prevention. It can lead to better running form and fitness.
The art of running requires the activation of a number of large and small muscles. It requires balanced strength throughout the body - not just in the obvious running muscles
